When and where is the best place to spot butterflies?
- Butterflies are most active during the hottest part of the day. For the best results choose a warm afternoon when doing the Butterfly Spotter activity sheet.
- Butterflies are frequent visitors to gardens, parks, hedgerows etc. Look in areas with brambles, nettle, wild grasses and Buddleja trees (butterfly bush). These common plants attract many species of butterfly.
- Nature reserves are fantastic places for spotting a wide variety of butterflies and other wildlife. If you can visit a nature reseve local to you your chances of spotting a varietry of butterflies is high.
